Located in the heart of the island, Driftwood Diner serves up scratch-made breakfast sandwiches, Southern favorites, and daily specials in a laid-back setting. Sally Ann Authentic Gullah Tours
Sallie Ann Robinson a sixth generation native, enjoying life on Daufuskie Island where she grew up learning the tough love way of life. The Gullah people were and still are proud people that lives life off the land from their gardens, the woods and the ocean which were skills they learned at a young age and did things they would never forget. There way of life was simple yet sometimes hard meeting their day-to-day needs, not their wants.

School Grounds Coffee Shop
The back rooms of the school house are the home of the School Ground Coffe Shop. Treat yourself. You’ll never find better coffee than what you’ll find at the School Grounds Coffee Shop.
Brian and Pam are coffee aficionados and they bring their passion for coffee to their creative brewing process. Their daily coffee menu, which also includes fruit- ilicious creations, is often enhanced with a “designer” coffee – a specialty of the day that you might wish were an every-day offering.
But what’s coffee without ambience? Pam and Brian add their own charm. They will entertain you with their stories of Daufuskie history, about the writing of ‘The Water is Wide’ and about what’s hot and what’s not on Daufuskie. The School Ground Coffee Shop has raised the bar for coffee boutiques.

Daufuskie Blues
The front room of the old two-room schoolhouse is where you will encounter hand-dyed textiles (scarves, napkins, hand towels, shirts) made with organic indigo and other natural colors only available on Daufuskie.
A visit to the Daufuskie Blues studio includes a real-life, school-book lesson about the history of Indigo and about preserving the historical techniques and skills that can bring out the magic of this amazingly beautiful blue color! The result is that once dyed, indigo is so colorfast that it can last for centuries! Daufuskie Blues just challenges you to wear it and feel the magic of the ‘blue hue”.

While on the island, you won’t want to miss D’Fuskies Store and Eatery located by the County Dock at the end of Haig Point Road just past Benjies Point Road. Delicious sandwiches and sides, amazing pizza, a full grocery store, t-shirts, souvenirs, beer, wine, spirits, 3 TVs, sports, events, incredible views and much more! Weekly theme nights from 6-8pm include Wednesday Philly Night with your choice of steak, chicken or veggie subs. And Thursday Taco Night with fresh tortillas and your choice of beef or pork. The Roost
The Roost is almost 7 acres of partially cleared farmland and maritime forest on the quintessential island of Daufuskie. We offer a unique setting for education and exploration, where visitors can connect with nature, and learn about regenerative farming practices.

At the Freeport Marina a crushed oyster shell lane leads you past an outdoor bar and sitting area to the The Old Daufuskie Crab Company Restaurant.

Iron Fish Gallery
The Iron Fish art gallery (est. 2001) is not just a coastal decor gift shop, it is coastal art gallery online which exclusively represents renowned coastal sculptor CHASE ALLEN’S sculptures. These limited vintage fish art sculptures are 100% handcrafted at The Iron Fish Gallery & Studio on Daufuskie Island, SC by coastal artist & sculptor CHASE ALLEN.
There is not one coastal sculpture offered which was created in a factory overseas or on a mechanized assembly line.
Fryers Corner
At Fryer’s Corner, a short stroll down a gravel lane brings you to a cozy little spot tucked just where you need it most. Open Thursday through Saturday from 11:00 to 2:00, it’s the kind of place that feels like a local secret—casual, welcoming, and full of charm.
Whether you're grabbing a quick bite or lingering a little longer, Fryer’s Corner serves up something simple and satisfying. It’s one of those places you remember, not because it's flashy, but because it’s just right.

Amazing Talents and Unexpected Treasures
If you take the time to meander along the sandy side-roads and talk to the islanders themselves, you will discover that incredible treasures await you just off the beaten path. Among these, you could find:
- Soaps and body lotions touted to make you feel younger and more beautiful;
- Soaps and body lotions that are toxin-free, organic and probiotic
- Nature photography, land-scape photography and human interest photography
- Oil paintings; pastels; and water-colors that speak of island life
- Metal art – coastal wall sculptures (fish, mermaids, crabs, sea turtles, lobster, and stingray) crafted out of sheet steel by a self-taught metal artisan

- Scarves and shawls hand-woven on the artist’s loom and/or knitted with an island flavor

If your side-road meanderings were to lead you to the old two-room school house where Pat Conroy wrote “The Water is Wide,” you would find a coffee shop snuggled in the back. Here you would here fascinating stories about the incredibly talented individuals who make up the Daufuskie art community.
